Vision correction that also protects your child’s future eyesight

Myopia in children doesn’t just affect how they see a whiteboard today; it can worsen significantly as they grow and raise their long-term risk of serious eye conditions. At TrueVision Eye Care, we offer Essilor® Stellest® lenses as a clinically supported way to address both concerns at once.

These aren’t ordinary glasses. Stellest® lenses are the first myopia management spectacle lenses to receive FDA market authorization. They correct blurry distance vision while simultaneously slowing the eye changes that cause myopia progression.

How Stellest® lenses work

Standard glasses correct nearsightedness so your child can see clearly, but they don’t address what’s happening inside the eye. Stellest® lenses go a step further using a breakthrough design called H.A.L.T. technology (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target).

  • 1,021 tiny, invisible lenslets are embedded throughout each lens.
  • These lenslets are not noticeable to your child, but they’re working constantly.
  • They create a continuous myopic defocus signal, a gentle cue that the eye interprets as a signal to slow its own elongation.

It’s the elongation of the eyeball that drives worsening nearsightedness. By slowing down that process, Stellest® lenses help protect your child’s vision.

Children wearing Stellest® lenses saw an average 71% reduction in myopia progression compared to standard single vision lenses.¹

Are Stellest® lenses right for my child?

Until recently, many myopia management options, including orthokeratology (ortho-k) and specialty contact lenses, were better suited to older children. Stellest® lenses fill an important gap, offering a comfortable, hassle-free alternative that works within any child’s normal daily routine.

  • Ideal for younger children who may not be ready for contact lenses
  • A great option for kids who prefer simple, glasses-based solutions
  • Fits easily into daily routines—no extra steps or nighttime wear required
  • Suitable for children with progressing myopia
  • Helpful for families looking for a low-maintenance, non-invasive approach

Stellest® lenses FAQ

How long does treatment last?

Stellest® lenses are designed for ongoing wear throughout childhood as your child’s eyes are actively developing. Even with these lenses, your child’s prescription may still change gradually over time. Regular eye exams allow us to monitor progress and update the prescription as needed. We’ll work with you to adjust the plan as your child grows.

Are Stellest® lenses covered by insurance?

Because Stellest® lenses are relatively new, insurance coverage varies significantly by plan. We recommend contacting your provider directly to ask about myopia management coverage. Our team is happy to help you understand your options and explore any available benefits.

Will my child need a second pair of glasses?

No. Stellest® lenses are designed for full-time, everyday wear. They can serve as your child’s main pair for all activities, so a second pair isn’t necessary unless you’d like a backup.

What if my child has trouble adjusting to the lenses?

Most children adapt comfortably within a few days. If the adjustment takes longer or your child reports any discomfort, we recommend scheduling a follow-up visit. We can review the fit, check the prescription, and make sure everything is performing as it should.
