TrueVision Eye Care was founded by Dr. Alecia Barnes to bring a higher standard of care to the Triangle. Every patient is listened to, educated on their eye health, and never made to feel like just another appointment on the schedule.
As an independent, patient-first practice, we make care decisions based on what’s best for you. Dr. Alecia Barnes, Dr. Jennifer Lyerly, and Dr. Brandon Weyand combine advanced diagnostic technology with unhurried, one-on-one exams to provide comprehensive eye care to patients across Raleigh, Morrisville, Durham, Apex, Cary, and Wake Forest.
We offer and excel at advanced eye care services that other doctors don’t provide. We are open for emergency eye care, provide sports vision training, and are nationally recognized experts in custom and scleral contacts. Meet our eye care team
Dr. Alecia Barnes
optometrist
Dr. Alecia Barnes was born and raised in Lumberton, North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in 1992 and attended optometry school at the Southern College of Optometry. She has lived and practiced in Raleigh since receiving her Doctor of Optometry in 1996. Dr. Barnes’ specialties include vision therapy and orthokeratology. She has been in practice for 20 years and is a member of the AOA, NCSOS, COVD, NORA, and OEP.

Dr. Barnes and her husband, Juan, live in the Brier Creek area and are actively involved in the community. When not spending weekends at Wolfpack sporting events, they are watching their boys, Connor and Justin, play baseball with North Wake Baseball or basketball with NCWBA. Dr. Barnes is also an avid runner and enjoys playing tennis.
Dr. Barnes specializes in scleral contact lenses, orthokeratology (ortho-k), binocular vision disorders, and vision therapy. Dr. Barnes looks forward to seeing you soon at TrueVision Eye Care!
Dr. Jennifer Lyerly

Dr. Jennifer Lyerly is an optometrist practicing comprehensive ocular healthcare with a focus on custom and specialty contact lenses. She is a recognized leader in eyecare with a passion for building relationships with her patients and the wider Triangle community.
More about Dr. Jennifer Lyerly
A native of Clemmons, North Carolina, she graduated as valedictorian at North Carolina State University before earning her optometric doctorate. In 2017, she was recognized as the Southern College of Optometry’s Young Alumni of the Year for her outreach in the profession and is now a Board of Trustees member at the Southern College of Optometry. She lives in Cary with her husband and young daughter.
Dr. Lyerly specializes in scleral contact lenses and myopia control.
Dr. Brandon Weyand
optometrist
Dr. Brandon Weyand grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania and moved to North Carolina when he attended Campbell University. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2003, he attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated as valedictorian in 2010. He has been practicing in the Triangle area for the past ten years. Dr. Weyand enjoys practicing comprehensive ocular care and contact lens fitting.

Dr. Weyand and his wife, Kelli, have lived in Cary for the past seven years. When he is not working, Dr. Weyand usually spends time with his wife and their four daughters, Madison, Camryn, Emily, and Olivia. Dr. Weyand enjoys playing golf and running in his free time. He is also an avid sports fan and continues to support all of the Pittsburgh teams, especially the Steelers.
Dy. Weyand specializes in primary eye care for all ages.
Helen Ourtal Santosuosso
Office Manager, Leesville and Morrisville
Helen has been in the NC area for 10 years now and hails from the NJ/NY area. She has been in the optometry industry for over 20 years and joined TrueVision Eye Care in 2018 as the Practice Administrator.
Helen’s background is in music/singing, and she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in opera performance. She speaks Polish because her parents are from Poland and is married to her husband, Pierre, who is from the Dijon region of France.
In her spare time, she sings at her local church as a cantor and wedding singer, gardens, and travels. Her daughter, Lilia, keeps the family busy with sports and family fun activities.
